One of the oldest residences in Edinburgh this fascinating Edinburgh Landmark, Trust House is just below Edinburgh Castle on one of the oldest streets in the city. West Bow was once a principal entrance to Edinburgh, a crowded bustling cobbled thoroughfare up which Mary Queen of Scots, Cromwell and James VI would have ridden on horseback

The lower apartment - Drawing Room
Overlooks Victoria Street. It has two original 17th century stone fireplaces, one with a gas fired stove. Widescreen TV with digital channels. VCR and DVD player. Sofas, desk , telephone/fax/voicemail. Two sofas, one that converts into a very comfortable double bed. This Drawing Room is reputed to be one of the oldest in Edinburgh still in use in it's original condition.

This lower apartment - twin bedroom with its ancient wooden panelling
With 17th century fireplace and wide-board elm-lined walls. This bedroom has its own private shower-room a few steps away with basin, heated towel rail and wc.
The house itself was built in 1605 and still retains its stone vaulted ceilings and old stone fireplaces. You can enter from the bottom on West Bow on Victoria Street where there are good restaurants and shops including Mellis, the best cheese shop in Scotland, and there is a second entrance right at the top onto Victoria Terrace next to Maxie's excellent Bistro restaurant. Around the corner from West Bow is the Grassmarket, an open square with plenty more pubs and restaurants. There's a thriving nightlife in the streets around about but guests remark that they have a good night's sleep.

Entrance hall - You enter via an entryphone secured communal stair with the apartment spread over two floor levels. The lower apartment has the main accommodation and upstairs there is a further self-contained apartment with its own kitchen, bedroom and drawing room/4th bedroom

Drawing Room - 3 windows and 2 large sofas (one converting to a double bed) along with two large armchairs, widescreen TV / DVD, desk and chair, fax./telephone and wireless broadband unit. There are two ancient fireplaces one containing a real flame gas fired stove.
Kitchen -
A well equipped Kitchen with plenty of workspace, Twin oven and ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster, plenty of glasses and crockery.
Breakfast Area - Just outside the kitchen is a breakfast area, ideal for planning all the things you are going to do during the day.
Formal Dining Room -
This is one of the most interesting rooms, Vaulted ceiling, long wooden dining table with seating for 8, and some historical American wall hangings decorate the stone walls.
Master Bedroom - King-size four poster double bed with desl, chairs and 2 windows.This bedroom has a vaulted ceiling.
Dressing Room - The master bedroom has a dressing room within which is a single bed

17th century vaulted Dining Room has a solid oak table and seating for eight. Fine old American quilts hanging on the stone walls.
